Asmitha Sathiyakumar M.D. is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician. Dr. Sathiyakumar obtained both her college and medical degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She subsequently went to Baltimore, MD to complete her residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After completion of residency training, she completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in pain management at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 2017. Since finishing her training, she has been actively practicing both anesthesiology and pain management.
Dr. Sathiyakumar is excited to be part of the Center for Spine and Pain Medicine. She approaches patient care with great compassion and patience, as she understands the complexity of treating individuals suffering from chronic pain. Her focus is using both medical and interventional techniques to allow for a multimodal approach in treating patients with acute and chronic pain. In doing so, she hopes to help patients achieve a healthier lifestyle and to improve their functionality.
Dr. Sathiyakumar is married and has a son. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, cooking, watching documentaries, and playing with her labradoodle.
