Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a common issue that many women may suffer from at some point. It refers to and deals with problems with tissue that lines the inside of the uterus, mainly when this tissue begins to grow to areas outside of the uterus where it is not intended to.

The exact cause for endometriosis is unknown, but several factors may be at play when the condition develops. These may include:

  • Genetics
  • Irregular Menstruation
  • Hormone Issues
  • Surgery

Most often, the irregular growth of endometrial tissue occurs on nearby areas of the genitalia, though very rarely may spread to other regions of the body. Symptoms of endometriosis may include unexpected bleeding, digestive issues or infertility. Many women suffering from the condition will experience varying levels of pain, including:

  • Intestinal Pain
  • Painful Bowel Movements
  • Painful Menstrual Cramps
  • Chronic Pain in the Low Back

Endometriosis can be difficult to live with, and is ideally treated as quickly as possible. The Center for Spine & Pain Medicine is dedicated to relieving your pain caused by this condition, and returning you to a pain-free lifestyle.
